hehehe... well, I can't say anything, maybe they are related (well, they are sea squirts). I know very few things about these animals. Particularly, my latest illustrations (and my first done with puntillism technique) are a request made from a Patagonian scientist. These animals (hmmm... I still have to draw an algae) are invader taxa in the region...

And, in this case in particular, I don't know if you can eat it (believe me, I wouldn't... heheheh)

You can.
Though, this is the sea squirt I usually see in the local Korean supermarkets [link] They're about the size of a pig's heart.
